About CSR in Action
CSR in Action was created to develop and enhance corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities among practitioners and augment student conceptual understanding. This 6-day program provides training and exchange of best CSR and social enterprise ideas and practices, then helps participant create their own projects for social impact. It engages the private sector, academia and government entities in formulating strategies that are more responsive to community needs.
In a pragmatic approach to social impact, speakers include prominent people from the UN Compact, directors of multinationals with successful CSR programs, social entrepreneurs who provide first-hand knowledge of creating change and experts on sustainability for social impact creation and measurement. During the program, participants build their own projects, which they then receive mentorship for during the piloting phase in the months that follow.
CSR in Action was launched in 2011 has been held in the UAE, Jordan, the UK and Lebanon with partners ranging from Microsoft, Ericsson, Mohammed Bin Rashid Establishment, Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (ESA) and German – Jordanian University.
The initiative was born in the UAE as a partnership between Al Ahli Holding Group and The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), a program of the U.S. Department of State, whose mission is to create vibrant partnerships between the United States and the citizens of the Middle East and North Africa to empower them to build more pluralistic, participatory and prosperous societies throughout the region.
